Classic Mai Tai
A classic Mai Tai is a balanced rum cocktail made with aged rum, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and orgeat syrup, garnished with mint and lime.
Ingredients
- •2 oz aged rum (Jamaican or rhum agricole recommended)
- •1 oz fresh lime juice
- •0.5 oz orange liqueur (such as curaçao or triple sec)
- •0.5 oz orgeat syrup (almond-flavored)
- •0.25 oz simple syrup (optional)
- •Crushed ice
- •garnish mint sprig
- •garnish lime wedge
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice.
- Add the aged rum, lime juice, orange liqueur, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup if using.
- Shake well for about 30 seconds until chilled.
- Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with a mint sprig and a lime wedge. Serve immediately.
